  39 converts a file in the Sun rasterfile format to
  40 .SM TIFF.
  41 By default, the
  42 .SM TIFF
  43 image is created with data samples packed (\c
  44 .IR PlanarConfiguration =1),
  45 compressed with the Lempel-Ziv & Welch algorithm (\c
  46 .IR Compression =5),
  47 and with each strip no more than 8 kilobytes.
  48 These characteristics can overridden, or explicitly specified
  49 with the options described below.

  51 Any colormap information in the rasterfile is carried over to the
  52 .SM TIFF
  53 file by including a
