3 These notes intend to help people working on the CVS versions of

   8 Only the sources are installed in the CVS repository (to ease the

   9 maintenance, merges etc.), therefore you will have to get the latest

  10 stable versions of the maintainer tools we depend upon, including:

  18 Only building the initial full source tree will be a bit painful,

  19 later, a plain `cvs update -P & make' should be sufficient.

  23 Obviously, if you are reading these notes, you did manage to check out

  24 Bison from CVS. For the records, you will find all the relevant

  27         http://savannah.gnu.org/cvs/?group_id=56

  29 The next step is asking the installation of all the missing files:

  33 And there you are! Just

  35         $ ./configure && make && make check

  37 At this point, there should be no difference between your local copy,

  38 and the CVS master copy:

  42 should output no difference, except maybe the date in po/*.po files.

  48 Unfortunately the current Gettext still does not include all the

  49 needed tools so that the bootstrapping always perform successfully.

  51 If you experience problems, I suggest the following:

  53 1. Do a regular CVS checkout

  55 2. Fetch a recent tarball in:

  56    ftp://alpha.gnu.org/gnu/bison/

  60 4. Override the content of your checkout with the content of this

  62    cp -r bison-1.875c/* bison-cvs

  64 5. Proceed on ./configure && make etc.
